Hot News is that a number of lock manufacturers are now producing remote locks that allow you to control them via the internet.

First out were the Schlage link locks, which are available as:

These two types of locks are available in Bright Brass(left), Satin Nickel (right) and Aged Bronze(not shown here)

The locks operate via a 'bridge' unit (the back box in the top right picture above) that plugs into your home router and the pack also comes with a remote power unit so that you can turn an electrical device (like a lamp) on or off remotely. Extra Z-wave devices can be connected to the system. There are two official z-wave add-ons that are marketed by Schlage, namely a Energy Star Air Conditioning Controller and a Web-Cam. We offer two options for connection to the internet, either via Schlage's Web server or through a Vera box.

These two types of locks are available in Satin Nickel (left), Aged Bronze(middle) or Bright Brass(right),

The internet versions of these locks are not currently available at the moment and only the stand alone deadbolt and levers are currently being sold, but from what we have found out, they will work with either z-wave or ZigBee. Watch this space for more news soon.
